Blue Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence from a Biphenyl Difluoroboron β-Diketonate.
Optical properties of biphenyl difluoroboron β-diketonates were studied in poly(lactic acid) (PLA) blends. Increased conjugation lowered the emission energy, decreased the singlet-triplet energy gap and yielded blue thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF). The properties of these biphenyl dyes may inform organic light emitting diode (OLED) and bioimaging agent design.

Reversible mechanochromic luminescence (ML) is known for difluoroboron β-diketonates (BF2bdks). Here, we report ML for the methoxy-substituted dinaphthoylmethane (dnmOMe) ligand even without coordination to boron. In addition, dnmOMe shows solvatochromism and aggregation-induced emission (AIE). Diketone thin films showed high contrast emission when smeared, and rapid recovery of the pre-smeared...
متن کاملDual-Emissive Difluoroboron Naphthyl-Phenyl β-Diketonate Polylactide Materials: Effects of Heavy Atom Placement and Polymer Molecular Weight
Luminescent materials are important for imaging and sensing. Aromatic difluoroboron β-diketonate complexes (BF2bdks) are classic fluorescent molecules that have been explored as photochemical reagents, two-photon dyes, and oxygen sensors. A series of BF2bdks with naphthyl and phenyl groups was synthesized, and photophysical properties were investigated in both methylene chloride and poly(lactic...
متن کاملAggregation-induced emission of siloles
Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) is a unique and significant photophysical phenomenon that differs greatly from the commonly acknowledged aggregation-caused emission quenching observed for many π-conjugated planar chromophores. The mechanistic decipherment of the AIE phenomenon is of high importance for the advance of new AIE systems and exploitation of their potential applications. Propeller...
متن کاملAggregation-induced emission-fluorophores and applications.
Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) is a novel photophysical phenomenon found in a group of luminogens that are not fluorescent in solution but are highly emissive in the aggregate or solid state. Since the first publication of AIE luminogens in 2001, AIE has become a hot research area in which the number of research papers regarding new AIE molecules and their applications has been increasing i...
